We are currently hiring a Mechanical Robotics Engineer for the Westinghouse Inspection Services Technology team. This group provides remote delivery systems to perform non-destructive examination in the commercial nuclear market.

Successful Applicant will:

  • Maintain personal and plant safety as a top priority.
  • Utilize engineering education to perform various assigned tasks of comparatively modest complexity; normally assisting other engineers.
  • Prepare drawings, reports, designs, calculations, costs and bill of material in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings or other specifications.
  • Preform technical surveys or inspections and prepare reports.
  • Be an effective team member with excellent organization and time management skills, self-motivated, hardworking and flexible.
  • Be dependable; able to work independently and under pressure, to meet deadlines.

Your day to day:


  • Executing project engineering functions to ensure customer commitments are met.
  • Preparing design reports and technical specifications.
  • Perform hand calculations and applying design-by-rule formulae.
  • Perform Design activities in accordance with the design process. Create, modify, maintain and responsible for all or parts of a project consisting of: cost estimating, functional/design specifications, detailed design with calculations to support, tooling concepts, holding design reviews, final manufacturing drawings, following fabrication, assembly and tooling qualification, training of personnel, first field implementation of new tooling.
  • Creating and/or revising procedures/drawings in support of design or field activities.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and functionally test electro/mechanical equipment.
  • Become proficient with software used to perform inspection activities at nuclear plant sites.
  • Interface on a regular basis with vendors and other internal functional groups on engineering level to obtain information necessary to perform work assignments.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in processes on continuing basis and assist in implementation.
  • Support field implementation and troubleshooting of equipment used for inspections at nuclear plant sites.

Who you are:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum3+ years of experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment.
  • Nuclear power plant and knowledge of nuclear industry requirements experience is desirable
  • Knowledge about non-destructive examination techniques is desirable.
  • Knowledge about robotics, multi-axis scanners and control systems.
  • The incumbent must possess analytical skills, critical thinking, a passion for attention to details and excellent communication skills including technical writing.
  • Must be fluent with the Microsoft office suite of products including; Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must be fluent with drawing packages such as: AutoCad and Inventor.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access in commercial nuclear power facilities.
  • Candidate must be a United States Citizen.
  • Travel of 10 - 20% may be required.
  • Physical requirements will include: lifting 50lbs., Bending and twisting, Standing or sitting for long periods of time, walking, climbing ladders, scaffolding, pipes, Exposed to elements such as noise, heat/cold and oil. Occupational radiation exposure.
