POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The Senior Director of Plant Management is a champion of the site wide Operations Strategy and will be the leader for the Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams within the Warren site. He/she will be responsible for partnering with all functions within the business to develop, drive, and implement core business management systems and strategies while driving an aggressive improvement plan.

Principal Activities

  • Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility.
  • Monitor expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality.
  • Review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
  • Coordinate the hiring and training of all personnel within assigned scope of work.
  • Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager to ensure all members of the manufacturing team are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees.
  • Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.
  • Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Develop and execute the plant manufacturing budgets. Analyze workforce requirements.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all employees.
  • Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity.
  • Communicate with research and development as well as product management personnel to develop new product strategies.
  • Work with supply chain team to develop and improve supplier relationships.
  • Must possess exceptional people skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in operations management.
  • Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement initiatives.
  • Support as necessary research and development as well as product management personnel to develop new product strategies.
  • Accountable for the safety of the facility by enforcing established safety and health policies and procedures contributing to promoting employee safety and wellbeing; preventing accidents; working to improve TRIR year over year.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Previous experience in establishing and managing manufacturing budgets / expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.
  • Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement.
  • Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance, and engineering.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
  • A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, driven.
  • Must demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

Education & Experience

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Business / Finance / Management / Operations or another related field is required.
  • 7+ years progressive experience in a key leadership/management role spanning multiple departments or disciplines at a manufacturing facility is required.
