ASSISTANT SITE COORDINATOR
YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES DIVISION
CITY OF WORCESTER

PENDING FUNDING APPROVAL

The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for Assistant Site Coordinator position for the Youth Opportunities Division within the Department of Health and Human Services. The position will implement athletic, academic and art programs for participants in the Recreation Worcester summer program. Under the direction of Youth Worker Coach, the position will assist in the coordination and execution of programming, supervision of day-to-day operations, and communicating policy and procedures to youth; while providing a safe, clean, fun environment.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:

  • Support Youth Worker Coaches and Youth Workers to implement daily summer program activities curriculum including preparing supplies and program areas
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records, incident reports, program documentation, daily attendance, and registration information
  • Help to establish and maintain a positive summer program atmosphere while complying with Recreation Worcester safety protocols
  • Day-to-day supervision of park staff, and youth participants

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations, organizations, and interests
  • Ability to work with students with special educational or emotional needs
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to build relationships and networking skills with students, colleagues, and community members
  • Ability to work up to forty (40) hours per week

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Previous experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must pass a criminal background check (CORI & SORI)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Worcester resident
  • Six (6) months of supervisory experience
  • Bilingual candidate
  • Six (6) months of experience facilitating out of School activities and programming

SALARY: $17.50 hourly part-time, non-benefitted. Candidates to be selected upon funding determination.
