Inpatient Psychiatrist

Worcester, MA

UMass Memorial Healthcare, the academic teaching hospital and clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is seeking a full-time, board-certified psychiatrist with strong academic and clinical skills for our inpatient Psychiatric Treatment and Recovery Center (PTRC) in Worcester, MA.

The PTRC is a 26-bed locked, acute psychiatric unit located at 26 Queen Street in Worcester, MA. This program is a flagship teaching program of the department. It provides acute clinical care to patients challenged by significant mental illness and have or will need intense community support following discharge.

Under the direction of the unit's medical director and attending psychiatrists, patients receive comprehensive clinical assessment and multidisciplinary care that includes psychiatry, psychology, nursing, occupational therapy and social work, as well as referrals to other medical services depending on individual evaluation, acute need and treatment plan. We are the largest provider of psychiatric services in central Massachusetts, with over 375 faculty members and 12 hospitals and community mental health centers. The Department has outstanding training programs which include 27 residents and fellows, as well as 16 trainees. All of our Psychiatry positions offer the opportunity for the involvement in a full range of activities with access to the latest technology, research and clinical trials. This is a wonderful opportunity for both experienced physicians and graduating residents to join a large faculty who are creating innovative strides in research in conjunction with clinical and academic expertise.
