Position Overview:

Works independently to order all residential or consumer appraisal from UniBank's approved appraisal list. Upon receipt of the appraisal/evaluation, responsible for the review each appraisal/evaluation and ensure that they were conducted in accordance with the Regulatory Agencies' Appraisal and Evaluation guidelines and conform to generally accepted appraisal standards as evidenced by the USPAP promulgated by the Appraisal Standards Board of the Appraisal Foundation and investor (FHLMC) requirements.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Maintain independence of the loan production and collection processes, as well independence from all appraisers on the Bank's approved appraiser list.
  • Manage the development, administration and maintenance of the Bank's approved appraiser list and related procedures.
  • Develop and manage a process to ensure that all Appraisers' licenses, both residential and commercial are current each year and determine the type of appraisals that each appraiser is permitted to complete.
  • Develop and manage criteria and process to select, evaluate, and monitor the performance of appraisers and persons who perform evaluations.
  • Working independently of the loan production staff, to order appraisals from the Approved Appraisers list of UniBank.
  • Review all appraisals/evaluations received to ensure compliance with the Agency's generally accepted appraisal standards and are consistent with supervisory and investor (FHLMC) guidance.
  • Will effectively document the results of the review, using an Appraisal Review Checklist, and appropriately address any appraisal deficiencies or errors with the appraiser/evaluator.
  • Will maintain an Appraisal Review Checklist for use in reviews, ensuring that it properly documents the review in accordance with generally accepted appraisal standards and consistent with regulatory guidance.
  • Will establish a process for resolving any deficiencies in appraisals or evaluations and set forth documentation standards for the review and resolution of noted deficiencies.
  • Ensure that appraisals/ evaluations contain sufficient information to ensure safe and sound banking practices.
  • Provide for the receipt and review of the appraisal or evaluation report in a timely manner to facilitate the credit decision.
  • Monitor all appraisers and make suggestions to add or subtract from UniBank's Approved Appraiser list to the Senior Credit Officer.
  • Maintain knowledge of all regulatory and USPAP changes relative to the development, reporting, or review of residential real estate appraisals.
  • Complete Construction Inspections in a timely manner when requested.
  • Complete training and ongoing continuing education as deemed necessary by the requirements of the position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills , Education and Work Experience:

  • High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5-10 years of residential appraisal experience or related work experience with Residential appraisal review experience is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of appraisal principles and procedures.
  • In-depth understanding of USPAP and FIRREA
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently but interact in a team oriented environment
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel
